My Journey to Becoming a Data Analyst

Hello! My name is Wenuka Bandara. I'd like to take you through my journey thus far and share my aspirations for the future. My academic journey began with a strong foundation in Mathematics during my high school years, which ignited my passion for problem-solving and analytical thinking. I went on to graduate from the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University with a Bachelor's of Science in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. This education equipped me with a robust understanding of engineering principles and the technical expertise needed to excel in the field. After graduation, I had the opportunity to work at Dialog Axiata PLC in Sri Lanka as a Specialist in Data Services. This role allowed me to delve into the telecommunications industry and gain invaluable experience in data management and analysis. It was a pivotal period where I honed my skills and developed a keen interest in the burgeoning field of data analytics. In 2022, I made a significant life change by migrating to Vancouver, Canada. Here, I found a new professional challenge and currently work as an Account Specialist at TELUS Communications. This role has broadened my understanding of customer relations and business operations in a new market, enriching my professional experience. Despite the diverse roles I've undertaken, my ultimate career goal is to establish myself in the field of data analytics. I believe this is where my passion truly lies and where I can make the most impactful contributions. Today marks the official start of my dedicated learning journey towards becoming a data analyst. I am committed to developing my skills and have decided to follow a Data Analyst roadmap on Codebasics. My plan is to invest significant time and effort into mastering the necessary tools and techniques over the next few months. My immediate goal is to find a new job in data analytics within the next six months. This objective is not just about a career shift but also about pursuing a field that excites me and offers endless possibilities for growth and innovation. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
